3d scan – who does our baby look like?

You guysss… I have been waiting for this past week for months! On Wednesday it was finally time for our 3D scan! We were finally going to see our baby and find out who she looks like! It was also the first time that Aleix could come with me which made it even more special. Unfortunately, because of covid, they don’t allow children so Lucas couldn’t come, but it was special nevertheless. My best friend came over and stayed with Lucas. We were a bit worried because he doesn’t really know anyone apart from mum and dad (thanks covid), but they were playing and he never realized we were gone.

On our way to the appointment I started filming a vlog to have the whole experience on video to share with you and our families. However, all that excitement didn’t last very long… As soon as we got to the appointment the sonographer showed us that our daughter was using my placenta as a pillow. There was no was we could get even a little peep of her little face. Not a single picture. I tried walking around, jumping, but sadly nothing worked. Our girl was comfortable and had no intention of moving. I was a little disappointed because of all the build up, but then again, we got to see her and she’s healthy which is the most important thing. We still have no clue who she looks like, she will be our surprise.

What you can see above the baby is my placenta – the reason why we didn’t get any pictures.

This is the best picture they manage to take lol. We only got a glimpse of her lips.

If you’re wondering whether to go for one yourself, do it. We were really unlucky this time around, but this is what happened in my first pregnancy.

Another thing that didn’t go to plan was our post Valentine’s weekend away. We were supposed to go away this weekend, but we are still in lockdown (again, thanks covid). We had to postpone it until the 23rd April as it’s their next available weekend. I will be 9 months pregnant so it will be some sort of a risk, but we’re willing to take it. We neeeeed this. Let’s hope that baby girl doesn’t decide to make an early appearance!

As you can see life doesn’t always go to plan, but in the grand scheme of things, all these small setbacks are irrelevant.

Hope you are all having a great week!

How we found out and how my PCOS affected conception

Those of you who know me or have been following my blog for a while know about my struggles with PCOS. If you are new to the blog, you can read all about it here. Thanks to my previous post on this, I realised how many of my friends struggle with the same issue. Today I just wanted to address whether PCOS has affected us getting pregnant with our baby girl and how we found out we were expecting!

We knew that due to my hormonal imbalance it may take us longer to get pregnant. We have decided to start trying pretty early on. I came off contraception and we decided to see what happens. We heard that women could be more fertile after giving birth and we had hoped this would work in our favour. This time around we wanted to be prepared so I bought these ovulation tests to know when I was ovulating. I have never done these before, but due to my irregular periods I though this would help us understand how my cycle works.

A month before I got pregnant, I had a scan to check in what condition my ovaries were. Things were looking pretty good so we were hopeful. We ended up being very lucky. We got pregnant on our third try! However, it was my first ever experience of seeing a negative pregnancy test when I so hoped it was positive. My heart breaks for all those couples struggling with infertility…. I hope you see those two lines very soon!

Now…. How did we find out? We were in Spain for a week when the Covid situation got a bit better, as our friends were getting married. I remember getting ready for the wedding and looking at myself in the mirror thinking I have been feeling and looking really bloated recently. Then, a few days after the wedding I just knew. I don’t know why as I had no typical pregnancy symptoms but I just knew. However, I had to wait until we got home to take a test. I didn’t say anything to Aleix because I wanted to be sure. As soon as we came home after our flight (it was around 2am) I ran to the bathroom and there they were…. The two lines we have been waiting for. I ran downstairs to tell future daddy of two and the rest is history…

I feel so fortunate to be pregnant with our second baby as I know not everyone gets to be this lucky. If this is what you are hoping for then I’m keeping my fingers crossed for you. I hope that 2021 is the year your dreams come true! xx

Baby nr 2 on the way!

Many of you may already know as we have posted about this on Instagram but for those of my friends who don’t know yet… we are expecting our second baby! We are absolutely over the moon to be welcoming another baby to our family. I am so excited to see what Lucas will be like as a big brother! If everything goes to plan, the baby will be with us in the beginning of summer. It will be a whole new experience as Lucas was born just before the beginning of winter.

To update you on where I am with my pregnancy, I put together a little questionnaire with the most common questions. I love reading back on my first pregnancy so I want to do it again this time. Lots of bump pictures coming up in the next couple of weeks – I have some catching up to do!

  1. How many weeks am I?

24 weeks.

2. How old was Lucas when I got pregnant?

He was 10 months old.

3. Were we trying for a baby?

Yes, we have decided a couple of months earlier that we would like to try for another baby. I will elaborate on this in a different post.

4. When is my due date?

The baby is due on the 15th May.

5. What will be the age gap between the kids be?

1 year and 7 months – yes, we will have 2 babies under 2!

6. Do we know if it’s a boy or a girl?

Yes, we’re having a little GIRL this time!

7. How has this pregnancy been for me?

Pretty much like my first one, I am very lucky to have had easy pregnancies so far. However, this time round my belly is huge compared to my first pregnancy. I’m 6 months pregnant, but my belly is as big as it was when I was 8 months pregnant with Lucas.

8. How’s the baby?

The baby is healthy, active and HUGE. I’m not sure if you remember, but I was induced with Lucas because he wasn’t growing fast enough and they were worried my placenta wasn’t feeding the baby as it should be. This girl is already one week ahead when it comes to her size! I don’t even want to think about the delivery if she ends up being massive and we still have months to go…

That’s all I can think of for now, but if there’s anything else you’d like to know, let me know in the comments below or message me on Facebook or Instagram. I have a few ideas what I want to talk about in terms of pregnancy but all suggestions are welcome. I look forward to catching up with you again soon!

Youtube Channel

Hello everyone! I hope you are all doing well. I am still in the newborn bubble and still adjusting to my new life with a baby. Lucas is now 1 month old now and I feel like this month has flown by. Look out for a one month update later on this week. 🙂 However, I just wanted to drop you a quick note to let you know that my boyfriend and I have decided to start a new Youtube Channel!!!

This, for me, is stepping out of my comfort zone slightly, but it’s also very exciting and something that I’ve been wanting to do for a while. We explain our reasons as to why we have decided to start this channel in our first video which has already been posted, you can find it in the end of this post.

We aim to post at least 1 video every week (Wednesday) and we will focus mainly on us, our life with a newborn, our struggles, travelling and living in London. All video ideas are welcome so if there’s something you’d like us to talk about or something you’d like to see then please let me know! It would mean the world to me if you could support us and follow our journey on Youtube. To subscribe to our Youtube channel, please click here.

Please see our first video below. We promise we will get better at this! First times are never easy and talking to a camera is pretty awkward the first time you do it! However, we hope this is just the beginning for us so stay tuned and enjoy the video. 🙂

Love,

K.
