Time for a 6 month baby update! How is Luna 6 months old already?! It feels like just yesterday I was writing her 2 month update… It’s difficult to believe that she’s already been with us for half a year, but even more difficult to imagine a life before she was born. The good news for us as parents, is that the newborn stage is over so she no longer has to eat every couple of hours at night. Wooohooooo!
She’s still not sleeping through the night, but we’re getting there. We went away for 2 months to visit our families in Spain and Poland and whilst we were away, her routine was affected so she started waking up twice during the night. But it’s getting better now and she’s usually asleep at 8pm and wakes up around 5.30am. I feed her and I can put her back to her bed and sleep for another 45 minutes before Lucas wakes up and we all get up. We’ve had some rough nights around 2 weeks ago because she was teething, but it was only for a week. I won’t complain because I know that some parents have it so much worse.
All I all, everything is going well and she is growing so quickly. I feel like with the second baby time flies by. You blink and there’s something new that they can do. Luna can already crawl so I have to pay attention to where she is at all times. Let me tell you… babies are fast! She can’t sit up yet, but I think she’ll be able to that soon because she already sits on her side. She is such a happy baby, she smiles all the time. You just need to look at her and say something and she rewards you with the biggest smile. Lucas wasn’t like this so we can already tell some differences in their personalities.
We started weaning her at 5 months old and she loves food. She tried porridges, fruit and veggies and so far she’s liked everything. She still has milk before bed, first thing in the morning and 1-2 bottles during the day on top of the 2 solid meals. I will slowly be increasing her portions so she eats more per serving but less often.
The last thing that I wanted to mention was the relationship between Luna and Lucas being so close in age. They are obsessed with one another. The first thing that Lucas does when he wakes up in the morning, is he runs to our bedroom to see her. He always sits by me when I’m changing her nappy. Whenever he wants to go upstairs to his room, he wants her to come with him and he pulls her top and tries to pick her up. She lights up every time he enters the room and when he’s within her eyesight, she watches him all the time. It honestly warms my heart. The only problem that we have is that Lucas doesn’t understand how little and fragile she. Sometimes he can be a little rough. Many times he doesn’t understand that he’s hurting her when he’s laying on top of her or squeezing her too hard.
Ok, and now the most special thing to me… My baby can say Mama!!!! I really deserved that one after Lucas, who said Papa long before he said Mama.
Things are going well so far and I can’t wait what the next update will bring. Maybe she will be walking already, who knows!
